2016 - Year Of Virtual Reality?
Addtime: 2016.01.04        View:

Its launch, slated for previous year, was delayed for some further tweaking.

To die-hard gamers, "AAA" means the highest selling games that are backed by substantial budget for marketing and development, such as Minecraft, Doom and Dirt.

Speaking of virtual reality, the concept in itself is a revolutionary idea. With several technology giants preparing splashy introductions for the first VR headsets in 2016, few people own hardware capable of fully supporting Facebook's Oculus Rift or other systems.

Jason Paul, Nvidia's general manager of Shield, gaming, and virtual reality, recently told GamesBeat that Nvidia is tracking around 600 companies or so that are dabbling in virtual reality in some way-everything from Fortune 500 companies to smaller startups-and there are probably up to one or two thousand involved with VR worldwide.

CEA research estimates that virtual reality headsets sale will grow by 500 percent in 2016. Total revenues are projected to reach $540 million, an increase of more than five times.

With so many competitors, Microsoft is also being expected to come up with the Hololens, that is already under its testing phases by Microsoft insiders, not to forget Samsung with its $99 VR headset, which will be a part of the tech extravaganza as well.

A new commercial and industrial market will also be launched in the Augmented Reality Marketplace.

The application of Virtual Reality is expected to be in Gaming, education, architecture, medical and training sectors. It is expected to feature a wireless, single-handed peripheral into which your hand slips, as if holding a cup.

But the power warning appears to reinforce lowered expectations for how quick the uptake will be for VR devices first voiced by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who pushed Facebook to buy Oculus previous year.

Initially set for a late 2015 release, an unexpected technological breakthrough was cited as the reason for delaying the Vive's retail debut into April 2016: the details of that discovery are to be made known at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 6-9, 2016.
